A survey was conducted during August 2001 to identify viruses infecting sugarbeet (Beta vulgaris) crops in the six provinces of Iran, including Semnan, Khorasan, Kermanshah, Qazvin, Fars and Esfahan. A total of 4795 leaf samples were collected randomly from 60 sugarbeet fields. Some samples showed chlorosis and stunting (Figure 1). In addition, two bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) fields with severe stunting, chlorosis and poor pod setting (Figure 2) were observed near sugar beet fields in Kermanshah, and 125 samples were collected from this location.en_US
