The degradation of rangelands is induced by overgrazing, over-gathering of firewood, and conversion of the best rangelands into cropping land. Over-exploitation results in negative effects leading to soil erosion and the reduction of forage biomass for livestock. To alleviate the spread of rangeland degradation, planting shrubs provides a large amount of fodder for livestock, combats desertification, and plays a key role in natural resource conservation.en_US
