The development of Central Asia Regional Climate Information Platform (CACIP) (http://centralasiaclimateportal.org/) commenced within the framework of the regional Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin (CAMP4ASB) managed to address key gaps in the region pertaining to access to climate information and related knowledge base for adaptation and mitigation measures. These gaps were revealed during country and regional consultations led by ICARDA to conceptualize the platform. Next steps in development of CACIP are multi-fold and need to be carried out in parallel. Continuous interactions with and exposure to stakeholders from both information user and information provider sides demonstrate that there is significant need in terms of understanding in what form climate information exists and made available and in what form this information is required to inform decision-making by those who are not thematic specialists.en_US
