Would Market Sheds Improve Market Participation and Earnings of Small Ruminant Keepers?

Abstract

Livestock in general and small ruminant in particular play crucial role in the livelihoods of rural communities of Ethiopia. a)It contributes a lot to the GDP and Export earning of the country. b) Despite the its pronounced importance, the sector in Ethiopia is still subsistence with limited market orientation. c) due to inadequate effort for genetic improvement, poor feeding and health care, poor market infrastructure (facilities) and institutional arrangements, and many others. d) Livestock markets in the country are very poorly equipped and inconvenient both for market participants and for the animals .
