The Rahad Agricultural Scheme (RAS) is situated 260 km south-east of Khartoum (Sudan) [14°23’-13°30’ N, 34°22’-35˚55’ E], established in 1977 to shift the local indigenous agro-pastorals economy to a more intensified cultivation. Knowledge management research has been conducted in the area with the Rapid Appraisal of Agricultural Knowledge Systems (RAAKS) methodology, probing the local Women Groups (Sudanese Women General Union and Associations) role in social networking, identifying empowerment opportunities and linkages with extension and finance institutions.en_US
