ICARDA Annual Reports 1978-79

Abstract

The winter cropping season at Aleppo in 1978-79 though remarkable for below-average rainfall was favorable to ICARDA's research and development work and good progress was made in the Centers activities. This report describes in summary form and in non-technical language ICARDA's achievements during the year ending 30th June 1979. The Center held its first in-house review in early December 1978 when the research proposals which underlie this report were examined in detail before all the senior staff of ICARDA prior to consideration and approval in January 1979 by the Program Committee of the Centefs Board of Trustees. This report explains how the activities so planned were carried out and examines the research results so far to hand. It is of necessity brief. Comprehensive reports on the achievements of each research program accompanied by detailed data will appear separately at a later date.
