dc.description.abstract"IPM of Date Palm Borers" The lecturer begins with an introduction to the scientific classification/division of date palm borers, and how to differentiate between species morphologically. The scientific classification of each type, an overview of life cycle and injury and damage symptoms were highlighted in the presentation. Examples of the results of few studies on flight distance, and the most important enemies on the main borers was given. Chemical control, which includes the injection of pesticides or fumigation, is the most important control method to fight against borers. The most important limitation to control borers is the early detection. The control of bores like many other pests require an IPM strategy. This require to be familiar with all the biological and ecological aspects of the pest. In addition, implementing the control program requires continuous follow-up of the various details and evaluation of the activities to ensure the success of the program. The main components of IPM for date palm borers were highlighted.en_US
