For chickpea disease, a survey was conducted between November and January in four major chickpea growing states in central and southern parts of India viz. Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. For pigeonpea, survey was conducted in September in the two major pigeonpea growing states of southern parts of India viz. Telangana and Karnataka. The districts in each state were selected randomly. The number of fields visited per district ranged from 20 to 30 and a distance of 15 - 20 km was allowed between sites, but the distance was greater where fields were far apart. A GPS based survey sheet was prepared to collect information on disease incidence, soil type, cultivars grown by the farmers etc.en_US
