At Nandyal and Sehore locations, reducing the inter row or intra row distance showed seed yield advantage over normal spacing of 30 x 10 cm. At Sehore, reducing both the inter and intra row distances significantly increased the yield by 40% and 21 % over normal density in NBeG 47 and GBM 2, respectively. Similarly at Nandyal, reducing the inter-row spacing gave about 15% yield advantage. Whereas at Bijapur, there was no significant difference in yield due to differences in spacing. Yield advantage was not observed for JAKI 9218 at Kanpur location and yield penalty was observed at reduced spacing. HC 5 showed 10% more yield than normal spacing. At Ludhiana, GL 12021 showed 20%, PBG 7 27% and 34% higher yield at reduced spacing over normal spacing. Overall results indicate that tall genotypes require higher seed rate than normal seed rate and produce higher yields at reduced inter-or intra-row spacing.en_US
