Why talk about peace at risk on World Bee Day? When we hear the term “peace” we might think about peace contracts, war and military, bombs and destruction, water conflicts, or border conflicts between countries. However, we don’t think about the recognized 20.000 wild bee species or other wild pollinators. We oversee pollinator-loss based risks for peace as we often oversee these flying insects. Perpetually busy, they collect nectar and pollen, support us with food, medicines, clothes, beautiful landscapes for recreation, clean water, functioning ecosystems, ensure genetic diversity of plants and climate change adaptation, and so much more. We humans depend on these tiny animals but put them at risk every day. Watch this video to see, how bee and pollinator loss can rapidly reduce our wellbeing, cause instability and conflicts, putting our global peace at risk.en_US
