While the benefits of legumes for soil health are well documented, the literature is scanty on their economic benefits. Applying propensity score matching and endogenous switching regression to a nationally representative sample of 1230 farm households from Morocco, this paper provided empirical evidence that the individual and combined adoption of improved faba bean varieties and faba beans – wheat rotation led to higher yields, net-returns, and household consumption of faba-beans respectively. These results point to the need for enhancing wider adoption of improved legume varieties and legume-cereal rotations through, among others, creating better access to extension and certified seed delivery services.en_US
